Biography

Samuel Parr of St George's Clist, Devon, trustee with John Stewart and Samuel Trehawke Kekewick (both of whom q.v.) of the marriage settlement of William James D'Urban and Mary Elizabeth Stewart Mitchell (q.v., under Mary Elizabeth Stewart D'Urban), the latter the owner of Hope Vale estate in Grenada.

  1. Son of Bartholomer Parr MD, married 02/10/1838 at Clyst St George, Devon, to Charlotte Maria Bons Ellicombe, daughter of William Bons Ellicombe, Rector of Clyst St George.

  2. In 1851 Samuel Parr aged 48 Magistrate for the county of Devon was living at Knowle House St George Clist Devon with wife Charlotte aged 43 and 3 daughters and 2 sons.

  3. Death Monday last, Samuel Parr, Esq., of No. 16, Esplanade, Lowestoft. "The decease of this gentleman is a great loss to the poor of this neighbourhood, in whose welfare he with his honoured lady greatly interested himself."

  4. The will of Samuel Parr late of Knowle in the parish of Clyst St George, Devon, Esquire who died 13/09/1858 at Lowestoft was proved at Exeter by the oaths of Charlotte Maria Rous Parr of Knowle, the relict, and Rev. Edmond Strong of Clyst St Mary, Devon. Effects under £40,000.
