1799 - ????
Son of Joseph Brissett senior (q.v.) and his second wife Anne Rankin. Given as 'Joseph Brissett the elder' in the compensation records, to distinguish him from his own son, Joseph Brissett, then a minor and described there as Joseph Brissett the younger.
Joseph Brissett and Mary Scarlett married 20/09/1821 St Anne's Kew, both "of this parish".
Joseph Brissett, age 24, white, was living at Content in Hanover in the census of 1823 with Mrs Brissett, age 57, Mrs Joseph Brissett, age 23 and Joseph Brissett junior, age 1. He was of Hersham Surrey in England when he proved the will of his mother Ann Brissett nee Rankin in 1831.
Genealogical sources show him as dying at Caerleon Monmouthshire in 1860. This has not been confirmed to date by LBS, although there is a death registration for Joseph Brissett in Monmouthshire Q1 1861. His son, Joseph Brissett the younger in the compensation records, settled in Australia, dying at Armidale NSW in 1888.
