Biography

Son of Langford Lovell (1732-1795) of Antigua. Despite his rentier appearance in the 1851 census and in his will, 'Langford Lovell' or 'L. Lovell' appears as a West India merchant of New City Chambers between 1822 and 1850.

  1. Matriculated 14/11/1793 Magdalen Oxford aged 18; Married Harriet Heathcote 1798 at Westminster; 1851 census shows Langford Lovell born West Indies Antigua 'landed proprietor' aged 76 at The Close, Winchester, with daughter Ann.

  2. Will of Langford Lovell of Hursley Hampshire proved 19/04/1852. He left his wife Harriet an annuity of £300 p.a. secured on his English property and the remainder of his estate, including his real estate in the West Indies and the United States, to his only daughter Ann.
