Identified as George Gowling Esq of Liverpool in his unsuccessful counterclaim as judgement creditor for the compensation on Caledonia in Barbados, and probably but by no means certainly the same man as the awardee of the compensation for a single enslaved person on another award in Barbados.

  1. The death of a George Gowling was recorded Q4 1837 at Liverpool. There was a cause linked to Liverpool in the Diocesan Courts of the Archibshopric of York in 1838 arising from the will of George Gowling of St Michael Parish Barbados (dated August 1834) between two of George Gowling's brothers, John and Joseph, concerning property in Barbados.
