Biography

Grand-daughter of Monica Kirwan, wife of Major Samuel Watts (q.v.) of Llangollen Wales, and awarded compensation with her husband for enslaved people in Antigua.

  1. Married at St John's Samuel Watts 03/11/1812. Death at No. 6 Rodney Terrace Cheltenham aged 52 of Margaret, widow of Lt-Col Samuel Watts of 4th West India Regiment.

T71/1223 letter to Commissioners from Barron & Co. 15/05/1837 identifies her and Mrs Sarah McHugo as grand-daughters of Monica Kirwan and daughters of Mary Haverkam (née Kirwan). Samuel Watts and Robert Horsford as trustees were awarded the share of compensation claimed by Mr and Mrs McHugo under Antigua claim no. 554.
