Resident slave-owner in Demerara, awarded the compensation for Dumbarton Castle, but not further traced by LBS to date. A William Elliot active in Demerara c. 1784, the brother of David Elliot merchant of Glasgow (q.v.), and possibly connected with this man, has equally not been traced further. W.D. Elliot was a significant estate-owner in the 1860s.
