Biography

Slave-owner in British Guiana, dying in England c. 1851, and probably also the executor of Isaac Hadfield (q.v.). The awardee for two larger claims in Jamaica might be a different man.

  1. The will of Joseph Hadfield [a native] of Liverpool [but many years a resident of the colony aforesaid, i.e. Demerara] was proved 30/08/1851. He had died at the City of London '25th March last', according to the attestation dated 29/04/1851. He left his property, mostly real estate in Georgetown, to his wife Margaret for life and then to his children.
