Medical practitioner on Barbados as well as slave-owner in his own right: he made a number of counterclaims for 'medical attendance' on several awards, apparently without success.
The wife of Abel Phillips of Barbados died at the Hotwells [Bristol] in 1840.
The Rev. Abel Phillips, aged 25, 'clergyman, missionary in Africa' born Barbados, was a visitor at the Vicarage of Figheldean in 1861: this was presumably the son of Abel Phillips of this entry.
