Description

Built the first bridge at Walton-on-Thames as a toll-bridge. He secured an Act of Parliament in 1747 and the bridge was built of wood between 1748 and 1750. It was painted by Canaletto c. 1754. Dicker left the bridge (and his estates in Jamaica and enslaved people) to his nephew Michael Dicker Sanders, who rebuilt it in stone 1783-1788.
