T71/857: claim by the Minots and Campbells 'according to their respective rights and interests'. Counterclaim from Hector Mitchel of Kingston, executor of Jno Biggar deceased, and others. Compensation split - £281 6s 7d to Minots/Campbells in ratio of 3:2; £360 9s 11d to Hector Mitchel; £294 13s 6d to Wm Williamson and John Gale Vidal.
T71/1594 p. 286: letter dated 24/01/1840 to Thomas Philpotts stating that the Commission paid him £936 10s 1d which should have been £281 6s 7d. Letter in T71/1606 from Thos Philpotts 3 Park st. dated 15/01/1840: 'In answer I have only to say that if any error was committed by the Accountant General in paying to the Minot family more than they were entitled to it was without my knowledge: I never heard of the claim until the power of attorney was sent to me to receive it..[it]was immediately remitted by me to the parties in Jamaica and I must refer you to them for any further explanation.' Letter dated 13/01/1846 from Accountant General John Viale [?] stating the Commission has transferred to Mr Philpotts a sum to which Mr Mitchel was entitled and asking is there any cash if Philpott's parties refuse to pay ('which I hope will not be the case').
