James Minot jun. was shown in 1831 as promising to 'over looking' papers related to the intestacy of John Sutton Minot, implying he was legally trained. James Minot was shown as Recorder of Kingston in the 1839 Jamaica Almanac. He was presumably therefore the James Minot author of A Digest Of The Laws Of Jamaica: From 33 Charles Ii [1681] To 28 Victoria [1864-65]. James Minot [the elder] has not yet been identified.
S. Harrison, A Jamaican Master in Chancery: Letterbooks of Herbert Jarrett James, letter of 10/01/1831.
