T71/1609: letter, dated 14/09/1834, from Sir Peter Payne Bart., Blunham (?) House, St Neots, the father of Charles Gillies Payne, stating: 'I am the first claimant on the estate in virtue of a marriage settlement made upon me by my father Sir Gillies Paynes Bart of Tempston [=Tempsford] in the County of Bedford in the year 1789 and I have given it up to my son subject to that settlement, upon certain conditions. By the time the money is payable we shall inform you to whom we wish it to be paid.'
