T71/894: claim by Edward Protheroe, of Hampshire [sic], owner-in-fee. Edward Protheroe of Bristol submitted a long replication of John Losh's counterclaim, in which Protheroe set out the background and the sequential steps from the mortgage of enslaved people by the Bagnell family to local merchants, and then the assignment of the security to Philip and George Protheroe, and then the passing of ownership to him.
T71/519 p.2276: the enslaved persons were registered in 1834 by J. ( S.?) R. Protheroe, as attorney to Edward Protheroe.
