William Edward Carroll, The End of Slavery: Imperial Policy and Colonial Reaction in British Guiana (Ann Arbor, University of Michigan Press, 1970) pp. 187-8: evidence of Mungo Campbell, the owner of 5 estates, delivered to the 1842 Select Committee on the West Indies, sourced to Parliamentary Papers Vol. XIII No. 479 p. 152. States that the cost of production from the Enterprise estate rose from 3s 2d per cwt, 1831-3, to 5s 5d per cwt, 1835-7, to 26s 9d, 1838-41. Mungo Campbell had labour cost at zero, 1831-7.
T71/432 p. 1306 and p. 1311: A. McRae registered 219 enslaved persons for John Campbell senior and Co. in 1832.
