West India merchant and slave-owner of Glasgow. Son of Alexander Campbell of Dallingburn, Collector of Customs at Port Glasgow (a cousin of John Campbell senior) and Elizabeth Campbell, John Campbell senior's sister. Married (1) Helen, daughter of John Campbell senior, his uncle and partner and (2) Amelia MacLachlan. Died at Ballimore, Argyll, 26/07/1862. Purchased Belvidere House near Glasgow in 1813 and sold it c. 1820.
