Notes |
It is likely that the plantation was owned by Thomas Cuming before coming into the possession of his son-in-law John Bagot and daughter Catherine Cuming. Part of Plantation Thomas was donated to the Georgetown Mayor & Town Council on condition that it was used for educational and recreational purposes in 1863 by Quinten Hogg. It later hosted the Demerara (Georgetown) Golf Club before becoming the Queen Elizabeth II National Park in 1965 in honour of the Queen's visit to the country [National Trust of Guyana, 'Historic Thomaslands': http://nationaltrust.gov.gy/history-of-georgetown/historic-thomaslands/ Accessed 16/07/2020].
