[Name] Clarke's Court [Size] 800 Under a decree in Chancery dated 13/02/1779, where Daniel Lascelles and William Daling merchants were complainants and Mary Clarke widow and Gedney Clarke the younger were defendants, notice was given 27/02/1779 that the Clarke's Court estate was to be sold by auction 10/01/1780. The advertisement carried details of the Upper Works with 64 'negro-houses', the Lower Works with 10 'negro-houses', and 'Utensils', including '175 Negroes and other Slaves thereto belonging.' In 1784, the estate was advertised again for sale, with 140 enslaved people, when it was described as Clarke's Court formerly Fountains [London Gazette 12530 23/03/1784 p. 6].
