Notes |
There were two groups of enslaved people registered to Arboll estate in the slave registers 1809-1811, owned by John Gray deceased and Charles Stirling deceased. It's not clear if either or both of these estates were sold to Humphrey Ewing Maclae, who owned Arboll in the almanacs and slave registers from 1805. Arboll [1] JA13703; Arboll [2] JA13705; Arboll [3] JA13701. It's also possible that Arboll [1] was renamed Ardoch, which was listed against the estate of Charles Sterling 1795-1807 and 1815-1824 but in fact appears to have been inherited by General Sir Thomas Stirling (q.v.). See JA13703. |
