Charles Stirling also given as Sterling

Son of Sir Henry Stirling of Ardoch and younger brother of Sir William Stirling and Sir Thomas Stirling, the fourth and fifth barts., whom he predeceased, dying January 1795 at Kingston Jamaica. Returns for the Ardoch estate in St Ann Jamaica were made for the estate of Charles Stirling [also given as Sterling] between 1795-1807 and 1815-1824; returns were also made in the name of Charles Stirling 1809-1811 for enslaved people on an estate in St Ann named 'Arboll', very probably the same man.

Owner of 83 enslaved people and 392 stock in St Ann, Jamaica, in 1792.

W. Fraser, The Stirlings of Keir (1858) p. 121. The 'Ardoch Stirlings' were noted as cousins of the Stirlings of Keir in Old country houses of the old Glasgow gentry, LIII Kenmure.
