In his will made in 1775 and proved in 1776, Samuel Smith said he had purchased half of the Union sugar works from Henry Lord Esq. It is not clear that Henry Lord Esq. was the same man as the Henry Lord shown as previous owner of three estates in Clarendon and St Thomas-in-the-Vale in the late 1790s.
