Associated People (7) |
The dates listed below have different categories as denoted by the letters in the brackets following each date. Here is a key to explain those letter codes:
1817 [EA] - 1820 [LA] → Owner
1823 [EA] - 1825 [LA] → Previous owner
1823 [EA] - → Executor
1826 [EA] - 1826 [LA] → Executor
Shown as B.J. Williams, but clearly Bartholomew Ibbott Williams. |
1826 [EA] - → Other
Owner of the enslaved people who were leased to this estate. |
1826 [EA] - → Lessee
1829 [EA] - 1839 [LA] → Agent
Notes |
This identification after 1826 is tenative and based on a different group of enslaved people working on the estate in 1826 worked by Louis de la Fitte in 1826 when other enslaved people on the estate were still in the possession of the executors of the previous owner. The almanacs show a straight switch from the heirs of Robert Aitken to Louis de la Fitte but the actual situation must have been more complicated. Broomley Hill has not been separated properly from Mount Zion although Robert Aitken was clearly involved with both estates. |
