This is tentative only, The background to Henry Glassford's entanglement in the affairs of Robert MacKay & Co. is not fully understood by LBS. Mullen, Stephen Scott (2015) The ‘Glasgow West India interest: integration, collaboration and exploitation in the British Atlantic World, 1776-1846.' PhD thesis, University of Glasgow (2015) p. 164 shows Glassford appointed as trustee around 1790 [it is unclear as to which estate or estates], and remaining connected at the time of his death.
