Notes |
The ownership of this estate has not been fully disentangled. Owned by Chevalier Delafitte in his own right and as administrator to the estate of the late Mary Ann Delafitte in 1817. After the death of Chevalier Delafitte the enslaved people were owned in various groups by Jane Caroline, Adelaide and Alexander Delafitte, with some ownership also by Delafitte Higson and Mary Elizabeth Justine Higson (nee Delafitte). The whole estate appears to have been leased to Thomas Higson, who also owned some of the enslaved people in right of his wife. See also JA16515. |
