In 1789 there was a series of conveyances to break entail on Bromefield (or 'Brome's') plantation in St. Lucy. John Brome, late of St. Lucy but by 1789 of Trinity College, Cambridge University, the son of Samuel Brome, deceased, who was the 2nd son and “devisee in tail” named in the will of John Brome of Barbados, but later a merchant of London. John Brome of Cambridge University broke the entail.
