John Baillie Esq. of Roehampton Estate, parish of St James's, and formerly of Lovell-hill, Winkfield, Berkshire, died on his passage to Jamaica in 1832. Will of John Baillie of St James Jamaica [but at present staying at St James' Street Middlesex] proved 30/07/1832. His executors included James Hodge Byles (q.v.) and William Mitchell Kerr (q.v.), his brother-in-law by Baillie's second marriage. He left his estates including Roehampton in to raise £3000 each for his daughters Jessey and Elizabeth, and £1000 each for his five sons, the latter also his residuary legatees unless they all died, whereupon his daughters would inherit. In a codicil he said he was heavily indebted on to Charles Stirling and Wm. Leckie Ewing as partners in Stirling Gordon, and he added them as executors.
