Widow of the Rev. John Brome and mother of John Brome and Emily Aldis and mother-in-law of Christopher Barrow (all of whom q.v.). Trustees launched a counterclaim on her behalf against her son on the Bromefield estate in Barbados under a deed to secure an annuity of £500 for her. The counterclaim was withdrawn, possibly because it was settled amicably.
Elizabeth Ann Martin married John Brome 03.08.1790 at St Michael, Barbados. Their son John was baptised at St Marylebone, London, 02/11/1808 and their daughter Emily Arabella was baptised at St Lucy, Barbados, 22./10/1812.
In 1841 Elizabeth Brome widow 'aged 65' Independent was living at Hanworth Road Ham with John Brome 'aged 25' and Emily Aldis 'aged 20' (and Emily's son Francis aged 4). In 1851 E.A. Brome was living, 'mother-in-law' aged 81, Fundholder, born Barbadoes, with William and Frances Bashford (aged 37, born Middlesex St Pancras), at Norwood Green Middlesex, together with John Brome ('wife's brother' 'Landed Property', aged 42, born Middlesex, St Marylebone).
