Biography

Overseer then slave-owner in Jamaica, marrying into the Horlock family.

  1. Benjamin McMahon worked for eighteen months as head book-keeper under Charles Smith in the early- to mid-1820s. Smith was married to 'Miss Hurlock'. Smith was accused by book-keeper Donald Ross of having deceived, stalked, severely beat and raped a young girl aged approximately 11 or 12 at Richmond estate.
