Of King Street, Portman Square, London. London merchant, partner with John Mackie at Fenchurch Street until 1831. Awarded part of the compensation for the enslaved people on Newington and Barracks in Jamaica as executor of Samuel Francis under a will dated 1826 and proved 1828.
T71/867 St Thomas-in-the-East nos. 545 and 546. T71/1200 counterclaim from John Laing of King St. Portman Sq. versus Samuel Francis of Newington. Boyle's Directory 1836 shows him as of 18 King Street Portman Square. Possibly the same man as the John Laing of St George no. 307 (who was probably a trustee with Robert Holden).
