Biography

Daughter of Mark Landell (q.v.), from whom she inherited Coldingham estate in Jamaica. The compensation was awarded to her mother Margaret Landell née Brodie (q.v.).

  1. Hannah Landell, daughter of Mark Landell and Margaret Brodie, was born 22/08/1819 and baptised 10/10/1819 in Coldingham, Berwickshire, Scotland. After her death in 1833, the compensation money was the subject of a legal dispute between her mother Margaret Landell and her cousin William Landell (q.v.); a further court case of 1845, Purves v Landell, concerned the conduct of the solicitor in the first case.
