Owner of Coldingham estate in St Thomas-in-the-Vale, Jamaica, which he bequeathed to his only child Hannah Landell (q.v.). The compensation was awarded to his wife Margaret Landell née Brodie (q.v.) and subsequently subject to a legal dispute. Path to ownership not known.
Son of William Landell, tenant farmer of Whitecross, Scotland. He was already resident in Jamaica when he married Margaret in 1817. Another family member Robert Landell, probably a nephew, also resident in Jamaica, where he died in 1866.
