Biography
Wilhelmina Margaret née Johnson, born in Jamaica, awarded the compensation for nine enslaved people on Richmond Hill in St James, Jamaica as executrix and widow (and presumably beneficiary) of Ezekiel Charles Petgrave.
- Married in 1826 Ezekiel Charles Petgrave, son of Thomas Harding Petgrave of St James. She was widowed in 1827, and bore a son after her husband's death. In 1841 at Mill Street, St Paul, Bedford, age 40, with her son Ezekiel Petgrave age 10. In 1851 as W.M. Petgrave she was a lodger at 3 Leicester Place, Clifton, aged 51 'Gentlewoman' born Jamaica. In 1861 she was a visitor at a lodging house at 4 Cliff Terrace, East Budleigh Devon, aged 61, again 'Gentlewoman', born Jamaica. Death of Wilhelmina Margaret Petgrave registered Bath Somerset Q2 1888. Will of Wilhelmina Margaret Petgrave who died 15/05/1888 proved 06/06/1888 by Ezekiel Charles Thomas Johnson Petgrave, son and sole executor (a solicitor of Bath), personal estate £1396 16s 6d, resworn August 1888 £1540 16s 6d.
