Deborah Heath Fleming, born 24/01/1773 and baptised in Westmoreland, Jamaica, in 1774, the daughter of William Fleming and his wife Catherine Eleanor nee Nightingale. His parents had married in Hanover in 1768. His mother was very likely the Catherine Eleanor Nightingale, daughter of Henry Nightingale and his wife Deborah nee Heath who was baptised in Hanover 28/07/1749.
Deborah married Henry Ruddick in St James, Jamaica, 21/09/1792. They had five sons baptised in Westmoreland: Haughton (1794), Henry (1795), another Henry (1798), George (1800) and Joseph (1800). After Henry’s death, Deborah Heath Fleming Ruddick married William Ricketts Johnson in London, England, on 24/01/1818.
Jacob’s Hope was also owned by Deborah's father William Fleming, from at least 1810 to 1827. Joseph’s mother, Deborah is listed with her father, William, at Jacob’s Hope starting in the 1818 Almanac (filing for 1817). Her son Joseph appears as owner at Jacob’s Hope in the 1824 (filing for 1823) Jamaica Almanac. Joseph is also listed in the Almanacs as owner of a property named Farm from 1826 to 1833.
