Biography

Awarded the compensation for 18 enslaved people in St Elizabeth Jamaica. His address has yet to be traced.

Born 10/08/1802 and baptised 22/03/1805 in St Elizabeth, reputed son of Mr William Jones and Frances Jones (who was baptised the same day, "about 28 years of age", "Negro... belonging to the estate of J. Whitaker." Also baptised on the same day was his sister Clementina, born 01/06/1804.

St Elizabeth no. 515. T71/1608 letter 20/9/1835 from Wm Jones, Haittan [sic], Mayville [sic] P.O. Manchester, eldest son of late Wm Jones of Jamaica: since signing the compensation papers for Hymen Cohen, I find my brothers and sister have conveyed them without my consent to W.C.J. Hart of Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth, to whom they are indebted for goods from his stores. "the debt does not concern the property."
