Siblings Robert, Thomas, William and Clementine Jones were jointly awarded compensation for 18 enslaved people in St Elizabeth, Jamaica. William and Clementine were baptised in St Elizabeth in 1805, reputed children of Mr William Jones and Frances Jones (who was baptised the same day, "about 28 years of age", "Negro... belonging to the estate of J. Whitaker."
St Elizabeth no. 515. T71/1608 letter 20/9/1835 from Wm Jones, Haittan [sic], Mayville [sic] P.O. Manchester, eldest son of late Wm Jones of Jamaica: since signing the compensation papers for Hymen Cohen, I find my brothers and sister have conveyed them without my consent to W.C.J. Hart of Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth, to whom they are indebted for goods from his stores. "the debt does not concern the property."
