Biography

Letitia Dawson (née Brown) (1801-1843), wife of William Dawson (q.v.), inherited a half-share of Sportsmans Estate, Trelawny as one of the heirs of John Stockdale Brown (q.v.).

  1. Marriage at St George Hanover Square, Westminster, of William Dawson and Letitia Brown, both of the parish of St George, on 19/09/1820. One of the witnesses was W.H. Brown, and one of the guardians of Letitia Brown (a minor) was William Hugh Brown; the original claim for Sportsmans Estate is made by John Brown, executor of Wm. H. Brown. Not found in the censuses.

  2. Listed as absentee on the basis of her marriage. In 1841, Letitia Dawson was living at the Grange, Barnes. The 1841 census provides the incorrect age for Letitia – she is described as 30, but she was actually 40 in 1841.

  3. The will of William Hugh Brown of Trelawney County of Cornwall, Island of Jamaica, was proved 13/04/1835.
