Rachel Jane Samuells

Rachel/Rachael J. Samuells was the daughter of Judith Gilling (Besly). Judith registered four enslaved people in 1817. Rachael J. Samuells, age 21, "mustifina", was recorded as living at Easingwood Settlement, Hanover, in the census of 1823. She registered five enslaved people in Hanover in 1823 then in subsequent registrations. She was a successful compensation claimant after Emancipation for nine enslaved people in Hanover.
