James Davis Samuells, born c.1807. His mother was Judith Gilling (q.v.), who registered two enslaved people as his Guardian in Hanover in 1817. He was recorded as “Mustafina”, aged 16, living in Lucea with his mother and two sisters in 1823. He registered four enslaved people in Hanover in 1832, having registered two in 1829. After Emancipation he claimed compensation both as owner and as trustee for his mother.
