Biography

Jamaican-born clergyman, vicar of Hendon in Middlesex, England, for more than 60 years, not a claimant but represented by the London law firm Oliverson as 'interested in the estate of Joseph Stone Williams' in a letter to the Commissioners in 1839. His brother Joseph Stone Williams had been awarded the compensation for his estates in Westmoreland shortly before his death in 1836, and Rev. Theodore Williams was his residuary legatee.

  1. Adm. pens. (age 18) at PEMBROKE, Dec. 23, 1805. S. of William [sic], of Jamaica. Matric. Lent, 1806. Migrated to Trinity, Apr. 15, 1806. Ord. deacon (London), Oct. 1, 1809; priest, Sept. 23, 1810. V. of Hendon, Middlesex, 1812-75. Died in 1876 [sic]. Father of William M. (1845). (Clergy List; Hennessey.)

  2. The will of his brother Joseph Stone Williams gives his father as James Williams and his siblings as William, Theodore, Mary Hall Grant and Jemima Jackson. His mother was Frances Cecilia Stone. The will names Theodore Williams as residuary legatee.

  3. Found in the censuses of 1851, 1861 and 1871 at the Vicarage, Hendon, with his wife Jane (born c. 1790) various of their 7 sons and 7 daughters, and 2 female servants. Their children were William James (1814-), Theodore (1815-), Frances Lydia (1818-), Charlotte Mary (1819-), Theodore (1820-), Henry (1821-1822), Jane (1823-), Josephine (1825-), Marianne (1828-), William Masterman (1829-), Elizabeth Mary (1830-), Lydia Lana (1831-), Felix Booth (1832-) and Edward Prescott (1836-). Buried at Hendon St Mary 13/11/1875 age 90.

  4. To date no will or probate has been found by LBS for Rev. Theodore Williams. His sons Felix Booth Williams and Edward Prescott Williams each left c. £1000 in 1883 and 1873 respectively.
