William Kent Thomas, as surviving partner of Purrier & Thomas, of Jeffrey's Square, St Mary Axe, City of London, counterclaimed for the compensation for the enslaved people attached to (1) Dunbar's Estate in Antigua through his agents Purrier & Wright, of 37 Old Broad St., for a balance under a mortgage (he later withdrew the counterclaim); (2) Holly & Savannah in Antigua and (3) for York Pen in Westmoreland Jamaica.
In 1851, William Kent Thomas, age 73, widower, Gentleman, born Kingston, Surrey, was living at High Road, Sewardstone, Essex, with his daughters Joyce (born c. 1813 in Kingston, Surrey), Mary (born c. 1829 in Waltham Abbey, Essex) and Ann (born c. 1823, also in Waltham Abbey), 2 female servants and 1 male servant.
The Will with a Codicil of William Kent Thomas formerly of Sewardstone in the County of Essex afterwards of Richmond in the County of Surrey and late of Stanstead Abbots in the County of Hertford Gentleman deceased who died 9 August 1858 at Stanstead Abbots aforesaid was proved at the Principal Registry by the oath of Mary Thomas of 7 New Boswell-court Carey-street Lincoln’s Inn in the County of Middlesex Spinster the Daughter and the sole Executrix. Effects under £800.
