Emanuel Baruh Lousada of Kingston Jamaica

???? - 1806

Biography

Resident slave-owner and merchant in Jamaica, dying c. 1806 based on the proving of his will in London in 1807. Identified only as --- Lousada, deceased when Carlisle estate in Vere, Jamaica, was registered to him in the 1811 Jamaica Almanac. The will of Emanuel Baruh Lousada of Kingston, County of Surrey Jamaica, proved 14/02/1807, shows his ownership of Carlisle. He identified Isaac Baruh Lousada (q.v.) and 'Emanuel Baruh Lousada jun.' (q.v., under Emanuel Baruh Lousada of Sidmouth) as his brothers-in-law on his appointment of them among his executors.

Emanuel Barrow [sic] Lousada contributed £10 to the University of Pennsylvania following Dr John Morgan's fundraising tour of the West Indies in 1772-1773.

Listed as owner of Banks and Hounslow Heath in St Ann in 1792.

The executors of Emanuel Baruh Lousada were involved as appellants in a case brought after 1802 by Christiana Allen, widow of Benjamin Allen, concerning the conveying of "Sun Vale plantation, Jamaica" to George Cunningham and others by Benjamin Allen in 1795.
