Of the parish of St Catherine, Esquire, when made a trustee in the will of James Mitchell in 1806. Also trustee and executor of George Rodon and Donald McLean. Died at some point between August 1831 and August 1832.

To the daughters of my sister Dunkley vizt. Mrs Bullock and Mrs Smith £1,000 each.

To the child of my sister Israell viz. Rowland Israel £500.

To Mrs Rennalls's son Sam £400.

To the children of my sister Mitchell vizt. Rowland and Samuel £1,000 each to mark my lively recollection of our intercourse and of advantages derived from their firm.

To John Francis, Mrs Georges, Mrs Carroll, Mrs Clayton, Mrs Jane Mitchell and Martha Mitchell each £200.

To Mrs Eliza Mitchell, widow of James £500 and to her son James £500 in remembrance of the generous intentions of his father.

To the children of my sister Rodon viz. Joan £200, Mrs Israel £2,000, Mrs McKenzie and Mrs Bryan each £1,500 and Mrs McLean £2,000.

To raise the legacies to Mrs McKenzie, Mrs Bryan and Mrs McLean and interest thereon I set apart the £5,000 of which I took an assignment in the name of a trustee from Mr and Mrs Israel as a prior charge on Rodon's Mocho.

I desire that Mrs McKenzie and Mrs Bryan be paid thereout first and preferably becuase Mocho is settled on Mrs McLean subject to the £5,000.

To Henry Rodon and Francis Rodon £200 each.

To Mrs Ann Hilair[?] Singer, my wife's sister, an annuity of £50 sterlig payable in England of an adequate sum on public or private security.

To Mrs Connolly, Mrs Singer's daughter, £300 payable to her own hands or to her order for her separate use free from any control of her husband.

To Mrs Singer and daughter for mourning, £50.

To George Signer[?] £200.

I release my friend William Bullock from one half of his debt to me at my death.

To my friends Benjamin Caractacus Patey £300 and John Gale Vidal £200.

To Mrs Dagge an annuity of £50 payable half yearly.

All sums mentioned above are in currency and the payment in Jamaica except in Mrs Ann Hilair Singer's case whose payment is to be in England.

All legacies to bear interest from my death.

I give £3,000 out of my public certificates or other my readiest money of personal estate to the Right Reverend the Low Bishop of Jamaica, the Custos and Rector of the parish of St Catherine for the time being to be invested in some institution permanently for the instruction of the pooere classes or all colours, free and slave, in the doctrines of the Church of England and in promotion of industry, the act of any two trustees being valid with no condition except that it shall be carried into effect within ten years of my death or the bequest shall become void. If it become void I give it to my neice Mrs Rowland Israel in addition to any of her gift, and after Mrs A. H. Singer's death I give £1,000 currency of the capital sum to be invested for raising her annuity unto Caroline, the daughter of my lamented nephew William Mitchell, the remainder to pass with my residuary estate.

I make free my slave Ann Smith and give her £10 per annum charged on my residuary estate, also the use of the house on the land formerly Mr Burges but lately bought of Mr Ross, not that bought of Miss Ricketts.

I also make free my slaves George Robertson, George Thomas and Rose Johnson when they shall obtain from the vestry the certificates directed by the 5th of Geo 4th chap 21 7. I further give to each of the said four slaves on my death £16.

After payment of all legacies above mentioned I bequeath £1,000 to each of my nephews George Smith, William Bryan, George and Paul McKenzie.

All rest and residue in equal shares to my said nephews George Smith, William Bryan, George McKenzie and Paul McKenzie, they having come to Jamaica in confidence of my protection, subject nevertheless and they paying out of such residue as far is it will go or hold out the following additional legacies vizt. to Mrs Bullock, Mrs Smith, Mrs McKenzie, Mrs McLean and Mrs Bryan £500 each.

My executors to enter or possess, manage, sell and dispose of all my real estate granting indulgence for payment on proper security and to invest pay or distribute the proceeds as well as all my personal estate and debts due to me.

I release the daughters of Rosy James from all my advances on their account.

My four residuary devisees to be executors, declaring the act of one or more sufficient and valid for any puropse as if all joined.

Benjamin Caractacus Patey and John Gale Vidal and Edward Bullock Esquire jointly and severally in my stead to be executors of the late George Singer and guardians of his son George.

Signed 20/08/1830.

Codicil dated 25/08/1831, Belmont. To Lachlan, George and Ann McLean, children of Mrs McLean, £600 sterling free of charges out of the money in the hands of Messrs. W. R. S. Mitchell & Co., to be added to any sum in their hands allotted to the education of the said children in such manner as their mother or any guardian shall see fit without regard to equality of shares. Out of the same money in the hands of Messrs. Mitchel & Co. I direct to be paid the legacies given in my will to the children of my sister Mitchell vizt. John Rowland Samuel Francis Henry Mary Ann Catherine Eliza Martha and Jane, the widow and son of James, the legacy to Mrs Connolly, also retaining thereout an adequate sum for Mrs Singer's annuity and mourning for her daughter and grand-daughter. I desire that reasonable indulgence not exceeding three years be given to my friends Vidal and Stewart [blank] payment of their debts to me, paying annual interest.
