1800 - 1866
Brother-in-law of John Walcott (q.v.) and executor (identified as of Stogursey Somerset) of his sister Mary Anne Walcott. The 'John Barnwell' who was a previous owner of the Melville Ormsary and Strath Campbell estates in British Guiana until 1815 and as the owner of Glasers Lust estate in Demerara in 1817 was presumably an uncle.
John Barnwell son of Edward of Demerara matric. Pembroke Oxford 09/04/1818 aged 18. BA 1821. There is no indication of his clergyman status in the Alumni Oxonienses, but the 1851 census shows John Barnwell born Demerara aged 51 as Rector of Holford, confirmed by the 1861 census. Holford is a few miles from Stogursey.
Will of John Barnwell Rector of Holford who died 16/09/1866 proved 19/10/1866 effects under £12000.
