Attorney in Western Jamaica from at least 1817 to 1823. Tentatively identified as the John Finlay, brother of Alexander Finlay and David Finlay (both q.v.).
John Finlay, baptised at Baldernock, Stirlingshire, Scotland, 11/05/1786, son of James Finlay and his wife Helen Wedderburn. The will of his father James Finlay late of Bogside in Stirlingshire was proved in 1821 and lists his sons as Alexander of Glencorse, David and John (both in Jamaica) and his son-in-law as James Connell, merchant in Glasgow).
John Finlay, planter, was buried in St James 21/11/1825.
