Partner with Duncan Davidson Milligan (q.v.) in Messrs Milligan, Robertson and Co. who were mortgagees in possession of Jamaica 'slave-property' including Midgham 1817-1820, Oxford in St Mary 1826-1829, and Richmond in St Mary 1829-1832. The firm suspended payments in July 1826 and Robertson was bankrupt by 1828. Brother-in-law of John Gladstone and brother of Divie Robertson (both of whom q.v.).
Listed as owner of the enslaved people on Fair Prospect 1826-1832.
Married Elizabeth Tulloh in Bengal, 10/08/1796. Elizabeth Robertson, daughter of Colin and Elizabeth Robertson, was born in Calcutta in 1804. Of Lethen House, Auldearn, in 1807 when his wife gave birth to a son, Divie, and at the same address for the baptism of John Mackenzie Gladstone Robertson in 1810. Of 20 Upper Harley Street, London, in 1824 when he advertised the sale of Bayfield, his property of 300 arable acres and a fir plantation in the parish of Nigg. Colin Robertson Esq. of the College took part in St Andrew's Day celebrations in Elgin in 1834; he died in Elgin "after a short illness", 22/02/1836.
