Son of Robert Milligan and Jean Dunbar. Baptised in Holborn, 1793. His father was a planter and West India merchant involved in the building of the West India docks. Duncan Davidson Milligan himself became a West India merchant, of Milligan, Robertson & Co. London-based. Bankrupt by 1828.
