Assumed to be resident and dead by 1823.
Probably the William Fairclough who was manager on the Tharp estates from some point after 1812 until 1822. Also a slave-owner in his own right: he and James Hedley (q.v.) had co-owned two estates called Catadupa and Mocho in St James until c.1821.
Hon. William Fairclough was Custos of Trelawny in 1821 and presided at the trial of Tommy, alias Tom Brown, and Hamlet for the murder of Henry Edwards esq at the Linton Park Estate (the defendants were found guilty, sentenced to death by Fairclough, and hanged at Linton Park), 1821.
He was a Second Lieutenant in the Trelawny Regiment in 1802, had progressed to Colonel of the Regiment by 1818 and was promoted Major General in 1819.
