Biography

  1. Isaac Allen was a Lieutenant in the Westmoreland Regiment of Foot in 1790, was made a Captain in the St Elizabeth Militia in 1794 and was a Lieutenant Colonel in the same regiment by 1802.

  2. Owner of Breadnut Valley sugar estate in St Elizabeth, Jamaica, from at least 1809. Five children by his wife Cecilia born in Jamaica and baptised in St Elizabeth between 1808 and 1816. Alive in 1820 but deceased by March 1821. Described as Major-General of Militia of this Island when his wife Cecilia was buried at Bread Nut Valley, 12/06/1819.

  3. His reputed children by Hagar Wallace, "a negro belonging to himself" were baptised at Breadnut Valley 26/10/1809: Maria, born 25/6/1802; John, born 13/5/1804; Jane, born 11/6/1805. The children were recorded as “freed”.
