1789 - 1821
Ellcock was 'murdered in his chamber at Mount Wilton Plantation' and buried, St Thomas, Barbados, 4 October 1821.
He was the son of Dr Grant Ellcock and Elizabeth Reynoldia nee Alleyne.
He married Mary Mercy Applewhaite (aged 16), 15 October 1811 in Christ Church, Barbados.
His daughter, Mary Ellcock, was born in 1813 (christened 18 November in St Thomas).
He was the nephew of Susanna Christian Alleyne (1765-1818) of St Michael, Barbados, in whose will he was mentioned. (Susanna Alleyne's great niece, Elizabeth Alleyne Pilgrim [1807- ] was also mentioned in a codicil to the will. She was the daughter of the Rev. John F. Pilgrim who was thus Reynold Ellcock's cousin. He was also his executor.)
Mary Mercy Applewhaite was born and baptised on 16 August 1793, the daughter of Edward Archer and Mary Applewhaite. Mary seems to have been living apart from R. A. Ellcock by the time of his murder. She was, it is said, living at Dayrells Plantation while her husband lived at Mount Wilton. Mary Mercy Ellcock moved to England at some point: she died in Marylebone, London, in 1846.
