Merchant and slave-owner on Carriacou, dying in Glasgow in 1824.
Will of Robert Starret merchant of island of Carriacou [made in 1821] proved 18/11/1824. Under the will he left his one-third share in Mount Rich to his nephew Daniel Love subject to an annuity of £400 p.a. to his sister Janet Love and her daughter (his niece) Mary Love, one moiety to each, and a legacy of £3000 to Mary Love to be paid out of his share of the 'nett crop' of Mt Rich, which was to accumulate until the £3000 was reached. He left a further £3000 to his sister Helen Morton and further smaller monetary legacies to three family members. He left his one half share in L'Ance La Roche and Industry estates and one quarter of Keep [?] Sinclair to the discretion of his partner Walter McInnes.
Helen Starret, daughter of Robert Starret, married James Morton 03/09/1799 in Kilwinning, Ayrshire. Previous banns were read out in West Kilbride. Six children were born to Robert Starret, a schoolmaster, and his wife Christian Watt and baptised in West Kilbride 1766-1776 including Robert (born 08/02/1766), Hellin (born 21/05/1772) and Janet (born 18/06/1772).
