John Lavicount

1769 - ????

Biography

Born Cambridge Mass., owner of Long Lane Delap's on Antigua and through his wife Gravenor's also on Antigua, and dying between 1828 and 1830. Father of Joseph Lavicount (q.v.); presumably John Lavicount Anderdon (q.v.) was his or his father's namesake. In 1824, 208 enslaved people were registered by Samuel Warner atty of John Lavicount on an unnamed estate on Antigua, almost certainly Long Lane Delap's. Husband of Ann Gravenor Buckley.

  1. John Lavicount (there described as John Levicount) was the main heir under the will of Benjamin King (q.v.) late of Antigua but at present of Kensington proved 05/02/1759. The John Lavicount in the Slave Registers must be the son of this legatee.
